Adam Hogendorf, dr
I graduated in Chemistry from Jagiellonian University. I carried out my Master’s thesis at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry of the Maj Institute of Pharmacology, which naturally led to my PhD project entitled “Aromatic Basic Groups in the Design and Synthesis of Serotonin Receptor Ligands”, completed under the supervision of Professor Andrzej Bojarski.
My most significant scientific achievement was the discovery of a series of weakly basic agonists of the 5-HT₇ receptor, which are currently used as molecular probes. One of these compounds, 504-298, developed within STEP7: a collaborative project with Celon Pharma and the Department of Pharmacology of Pain, is being advanced through preclinical development as a potential therapy for neuropathic pain.
Seeking to build on this success and to rationally increase the likelihood of a serendipitous discovery of promising chemotypes suitable for further development as therapeutics — I became interested in DNA-encoded library (DEL) technology. I gained in-depth expertise in this area during my postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Professor Raphael Franzini at the University of Utah. More information on DEL technology (in Polish) can be found on my personal website: www.firstinclass.pl.
