Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Institute or IP PAS) announces the competition for the position of an assistant (F/M/X) at the Department of Brain Biochemistry. We are seeking a highly motivated individual interested in conducting innovative research and supporting research projects carried out at the Department of Brain Biochemistry IP PAS. We offer a stimulating professional environment, friendly atmosphere and an individualized approach to work organization while respecting the so-called “work–life balance”. At the same time, we expect determination and a positive attitude toward implementing projects classified as “high risk / high gain”.

A person for the position of an assistant (F/M/X) should meet the following conditions:

  1. Hold a professional Master’s degree in medical or related fields;
  2. Have a minimum of 5 years of experience with advanced fluorescence and confocal microscopy techniques and with primary in vitro cultures;
  3. Possess very good practical knowledge of biochemical and molecular biology techniques (including isolation and quality assessment of proteins and RNA, molecular cloning, Western blot, use of the SimplePlex, ELISA, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence platforms, as well as knowledge of working with human and iPSC-derived cells);
  4. Have knowledge of image analysis software (ImageJ, CellProfiler);
  5. Hold a proven scientific record documented by publications in journals with international reach;
  6. Have completed research internships at foreign scientific institutions;
  7. Demonstrate the ability to independently manage research projects and independently analyze and interpret results, prepare manuscripts and publicly present and discuss results;
  8. Be motivated to expand scientific knowledge and have scientific curiosity;
  9. Demonstrate willingness to conduct own scientific research and projects;
  10. Possess the ability to organize one’s own work and teamwork and take responsibility for assigned tasks;
  11. Have a fluent knowledge of English;
  12. Demonstrate an impeccable ethical attitude.

Additional advantages:

  1. Doctoral degree in medical sciences or related fields;
  2. Confirmed active involvement in teaching activities;
  3. Experience and authorization to work with laboratory animals (mice, rats);
  4. Knowledge of spoken and written Polish.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Development of research activities in areas consistent with the scientific profile of the Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences;
  2. Planning and conducting research experiments, implementation of ongoing scientific projects;
  3. Preparation and archiving of research results;
  4. Implementation of new research methods;
  5. Preparation of research projects and acquisition of research funding;
  1. Strict adherence to the code of ethics of Polish Academy of Sciences employee;
  2. Compliance with the regulations and orders in force at the IP PAS

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment in the project under a full-time employment contract. Remuneration in accordance with the remuneration regulations of the IP PAS.

  8. Opinion of the current scientific supervisor;
  9. Certificate of English language proficiency (if available);
  10. Statement on the primary place of employment and affiliation of research and publications, in accordance with App. No. 3 to the Form;
  11. Information on the processing of personal data in accordance with Appendix 4 to the Form;
  12. A declaration of impeccable ethical attitude in accordance with Appendix 5 to the Form.
