The Maj Institute of Pharmacology Polish Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the Institute or IP PAS) announces an competition for the position of Assistant (F/M/X) in Team III at the Department of Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism IP PAS. We are seeking a committed, independent and scientifically curious individual who is interested in contributing to statutory research activities and research projects conducted by Team III. We offer the opportunity to gain experience in the implementation of modern research projects, develop scientific competencies and practical experimental skills and work in a supportive team environment based on mutual respect and effective communication.

A person for the position of an assistant (F/M/X) should meet the following conditions:

  1. Hold a doctoral degree in medical or related sciences;
  2. Demonstrate at least five years of experience in cell culture and an excellent practical knowledge of biochemical and molecular biology techniques, including, in particular, protein and nucleic acid isolation, qPCR, ELISA, microarray analysis, Western blotting and microscopic analysis of cell cultures;
  3. Have experience working with animal models, including the ability to perform basic in vivo procedures, such as subcutaneous and intraperitoneal injections, as well as the collection
    of tissues and organs for further analyses.
  4. Demonstrate experience in conducting behavioural tests in animal models and knowledge of the principles underlying their design, performance and interpretation;
  5. Completed training required for persons planning and conducting procedures and euthanizing animals used for scientific or educational purposes, in accordance with the provisions of the Polish Act on the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific or Educational Purposes (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 465, of 2025, item 1795);
  6. Be proficient in data analysis software (including ImageJ, GraphPad and Statistica);
  7. Have a scientific track record documented by publications in international peer-reviewed journals;
  8. Have completed research placements or internships at international research institutions;
  9. Demonstrate the ability to manage research projects, independently analyse and interpret research results, prepare scientific manuscripts, and present and discuss research findings in public;
  10. Demonstrate a strong motivation to expand their knowledge and a high level of scientific curiosity;
  11. Be willing to develop and conduct independent research projects;
  12. Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and responsibility for assigned tasks.
  13. Have an excellent command of English.
  14. Demonstrate impeccable ethical conduct.

Additional assets will include:

  1. Proficiency in spoken and written Polish.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Developing research activities in areas consistent with the scientific profile of Team III.
  2. Planning and conducting research experiments and contributing to ongoing scientific projects;
  3. Processing, documenting and archiving research results;
  4. Implementing new research methods;
  5. Preparing research proposals and applying for research funding;
  6. Strict adherence to the Code of Ethics of the Polish Academy of Sciences employee;
  7. Compliance with the internal regulations, policies and orders applicable at IP PAS.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary ranging from PLN 5,600.00 to PLN 7,280.00 gross per month, including base salary, seniority increment (if applicable) and bonus in accordance with the IP PAS Remuneration Regulations.

  6. Copy of the certificate of completion of training for persons planning and conducting procedures and euthanizing animals;
  7. Contact details of referees who have agreed to provide information about the candidate and who agreed to be contacted;
  8. Certificate of English language proficiency, if available;
  9. Statement on the primary place of employment and affiliation of research and publications,
    in accordance with App. No. 3 to the Form;
  10. Information on the processing of personal data in accordance with Appendix 4 to the Form;
  11. A declaration of impeccable ethical attitude in accordance with Appendix 5 to the Form.
